View Full Version : SFA 2011 Coaster?

At a recent ACE event at Six Flags America, the park president told the attendees that if all goes well with the Bankruptcy, they will get an attraction that will make them all very happy in 2011.
That pretty much screams Coaster, so LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!
I actually don't think they will get Chang. If they were getting Chang, it wouldn't matter how the bankruptcy went unless they planned on selling SFA if it didn't go well.
They already have a GCI woodie, so they probably won't get another. They might get a THBS, but it seems like they would have gotten one by now if they were going to get it. I would like to see a clone of TDK here, but Shapiro said all future plans for them have been called off.
Maybe we will see Shapiro try a new type of coaster. Hopefully Intamin!

I can easily tell you, no launch, no hyper, no GCI (in fact, probably no woodie), no flyer.
They have all of them and they have two woodies. THBS is nice, but they don't have a invert. They would like that. Yeah, i know they have a SLC but B&M Inverts are better.
Chang is out of it, they it's probably going SFGAm (like originally rumored)

^How do you know that they won't get Chang? Just because there are rumors doesn't mean it's true. I'm interested to see where the Chang track starts showing up.
I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but I heard a rumor that B&M and Busch have a contract that B&M can't build any coasters at any parks in a certain milage radius around BGE. The rumor said that it applies to King's Dominion (that is why they got Dominator, the contract didn't apply to relocated rides) and Six Flags America. If that is true, it just shows even more why they might relocate Chang to SFA. The clues just keep adding up in Six Flags America's favor.

I can tell you where lol. A little place called B&M. Its going to be the star attraction of the new theme park B&M! Fun Park
Isn't the Wild One an ACE Coaster. If it is what if they reramped the ride like X2, and Bizzaro did. Like get new paint, trains, get some fire effects, and much more!

I just checked the list and Wild One is not an ACE Award-Winning Coaster. You do know that Wild One is a wooden coaster, right? I don't think that Six Flags will try to theme a wooden coaster extensively after the disaster Terminator is turning out to be. I haven't personally seen this, but lots of reviews consistantly say that the Audio isn't working. Probably due to the vibrating of the trains on the wooden coaster. I don't think that woodies will ever be painted anything other that white or muted tones (like Blue Streak). I just don't see Six Flags painting a wooden coaster any color other than white. And fire...Wild One is in a rather congested area, so there really isn't a place where they could put the fire at a safe distance from the coaster, but still have the riders experience the full effect of it. Fire on a wooden coaster just doesn't seem all that safe to me either.
^ I thought they had one!

A coaster with an ACE Award, but they do not. I checked the ACE website.

So you saying the BGE contract takes over all of Virginia and Maryland? That's a big radius of land. Well, if KD found a tweak in the contract and can get a relocation of a B&M ride, then Chang is more possible than i thought.
To add more to it. SFA has not one B&M (S:ROS-Intamin, Batwing-Vekoma, Mind Eraser-Vekoma, Joker's Jinx-Premier Rides, ROAR- GCI, Wild One- Charles Dinn). Therefore, Chang might be needed. Or, they don't know the little tweak in the contract and have no idea of a relocation of a B&M
According from the Fan Call, Six Flags America is getting a Family Coaster in the future, could it be for the 2011 season?

I was hoping it would end up being Chang, but maybe we will see a new type of coaster for Six Flags.

Update: Latest rumors are pointing to Tony Hawk's Big Spin.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? I'm kind of disappointed by this and a lot of SFA fans on TPR are not happy.

That is great... SFA basically has huge coasters and kiddie coasters. Balance is needed and THBS is perfect.

I wouldn't think SFA would be made with a THBS. Those seem enjoyable and perfect for a park like SFA. As Changsucks said, it's all big coasters and kiddie coasters. A nice family coaster like THBS would be great for everyone and the park itself.

I've heard that there are "Under Funstruction" signs at the site of TwoFace. I think this is confirmation of a THBS. Thats a perfect spot for a clone. Perfect, perfect spot.

That sign was there last summer when I was there in that same spot. I think I may still have a picture of it.
The sign been there since the removal of TwoFace.

Oh, didn't know that. I just saw it on Facebook and thought it was something new. Why would they keep the sign up though? Nothing has been happening. Thats strange.
Here is a picture of the sign on opening day last year (2009).

Screamscape reports that SFA may get nothing new for 2011 after all. Six Flags????
Right now, I'm kind of wondering where Road Runner falls into the plans.
wow lengthy consturction for such a small area...
Well, not much has happened in the past 2 years besides the removal of a coaster. I think it's just being used as a storage area and they haven't gotten around to changing the sign yet.

Its not going to TGE, its not going to SFA now, and now we have rumors of a euro fighter at Georgia. Dammit does this mean its going to SFNE? That seems like the only other choice. SFNE or SFDK, but we both have spinning mouses so whats the point?

^SFGAm has both spinning and standard mouses. That's not gonna stop Six Flags.

SFA gonna get road runner I bet after the KK settlement. I thought that its was going to SFNE but they're getting some sort of spinning coaster.

No SFNE isn't getting a second spinner coaster. Know the coasters of each park before you post something like that.
Palmer, I thought Weber would actually be smart because he showed brains for canceling Chang at GAm.
SFA is much more deserving for a wild mouse than SFNE. Much more. Send it to SFA.

^I agree with you, but SFA is also in a need of ANY coaster. Personally, they need something like a B&M Floorless or Stand-up.

This is really sad, especially seeing as how every other Six Flags park is receiving something. They really should have gotten Road Runner Express instead of sending it to SFNE. It’s a shame to because the park does have some really good potential.

Not to be critical or anything... But it seems all the coasters are clones... With the exception of Wild One. So they need something! Well it could of been a wild mouse... that would of been good. Because the park needs more then clones of original rides...

I get that the park needs something original to make it stand out, but lets face it, the general public is completely oblivious when it comes to cloned coasters. The last new coaster this park saw was in 2001, and it is lacking any kind of family/kiddy coaster. Road Runner would have been a perfect fit instead of putting it into a park with a very similar coaster already there.

Quoted from Six Flags America's Facebook status today:
I think you look funny! Especially in these mirrors! There is clue number one!
So either it's something for Fright Fest, or they are getting something new in 2011 after all!

You guy's are making a big deal out of nothing. No offense. Its just a scavenger hunt to find the guy running the Facebook page for a meet and greet for the concert tonight. SFA is getting absolutely nothing in terms of rides in 2011.

I don't think 2011 is as big a deal as it was to Weber as it was to Shapiro. Its just like any other operating year to him. Notice how none of the press releases even mentioned it. Wouldn't it say, "We're kicking off our 50th birthday with..." So SFA was left in the dust.

Well that would make it sound like the park itself is 50yrs old not the company that ownes the park...
